It is a fishing village located on the Gulf of Chiriqui in Veraguas province. Santa Catalina was kept secret by the by adventurous surfers since the 1970s.
Today, Santa Catalina offers a smattering of surf camps, a good range of hotels and a few eating establishments. Still fairly secluded, the closest town with ATM, grocery, other basic services is Soná which is about an hour away.
It offers some of the best surf in Panama, and the closest access point to Isla Coiba with its unbelievable scuba diving, fishing and quiet charm for relaxing. Its beautiful beaches, lush forest and friendly people make it a great stop for travelers wanting to enjoy some of the best of Panama’s natural beauty in a very friendly and quiet enviroment.
Chagres National Park
The park has tropical rainforests and mountainous terrain. The park’s rivers – which not only include the Chagres, but also the Pequeni and Boquerón – offer visitors a place to kayak, raft, and fishing.
